Standard License & Terms of Use

Unless otherwise noted, the following terms apply to Colorfilter.net free resource downloads and digital offerings, such as textures, brushes, templates, and other graphic elements that I explicitly state I’m sharing. This includes "exclusive sets" previously shared only with donators on Colorfilter.net. It does not include other content that may be posted here or at other related accounts, such as any artwork, supplementary images, tutorial graphics, etc. Those are meant to be viewed only and may not be used at all without authorization.

By using the resources offered, you are agreeing to the license they're released under as listed on this page. Please read the terms in its entirety before using anything.

General Terms

Colorfilter.net freebie resources are available for your use in both personal and commercial projects, with limitations. "Commercial" is defined here as any entity that involves taking money in exchange for goods or services, no matter whether it's done on a small scale or a large one.

You may use the resources in your personal work (i.e. icons/avatars, websites, artwork, graphics, and so on). You may also use them for commercial projects, provided their role is in a supporting capacity only and not as part of any main feature. For example, you may use them for your business website layout, to decorate your blog posts, or to help with areas meant to assist with your business operations.

Things you are NOT allowed to do:

[1] If you’re looking to use my resources in designs and end products for sale/offer (or in projects that fall outside the scope of the terms), please contact me for further details and/or permission. This may or may not require purchasing an extended commercial license.

Terms FAQ:

Does "personal use" include non-profits and organizations of similar nature?
Yes, as long as the resources are not used to obtain any sort of monetary gain. Basically, if you're not receiving money or things of similar value in exchange, go for it! Or if you're raising money for a cause, please discuss it with to me and I'll see if it's something I can get behind.

Do I have to credit you if/when I use your resources?
Nope, but it would sure be nice if you do! :) I know that a credit link back may not always be feasible, so feel free to do whatever you're comfortable with.

I downloaded your old resources when you first offered them years ago and the attached terms disallowed all commercial use. Which license/terms should I follow?
Apologies for the confusion. I have since amended the terms to allow more free use, so please do apply the updated terms to your usage as needed. Thank you for your support all these years!

I remember you used to allow people to use your resources to make new ones to be shared. Why has this changed?
I no longer allow this because it was highly abused. There were too many instances of people slapping a dingbat brush on one my textures and calling it a day, or cases where the only edit made was a color change, and so on so forth (while taking all the credit for "their" work). Ideally, I'd like to draw the line at "allowed provided the end result is significantly different" but opinions on what different entails is going to vary, so this is where I'm left at. I'm sorry.

Can I use your resources in premades, such as layout themes for offer?
In most cases I've come across, the answer is usually yes, but I ask that you please check with me first. It would be helpful if you include some details on how you intend to use the resource and whether the premade will be free or not. Additionally, this is the one area where I do require a credit or mention of some sort.

Does the standard license listed on this page apply to your paid resources too?
No, the above terms are for freebie downloads only. Paid resources come with a specific license of their own as stated at the time of purchase, so please don't worry about any limitations set here that don't apply to you.

How much does an extended commercial license cost?
I'm unable to list a price here as it varies from item to item, and it also depends on how they will be used. Sometimes I don't even charge anything additional. There are also certain resources where further commercial use is not allowed at all, which is the main reason why I offer only a limited commercial use in my general terms. Please email me with details on your project, and I'd be happy to work something out with you.

And finally, I hope you like the resources and that you have lots of fun making stuff with them! I'm always happy to see all the wonderful things people use them for, so don't be shy about pointing me to your work. Thank you always for your support. :)
